6. Troubleshooting

If you are at this page because your Export… Adobe PDF… is not working, then here's a list of the usual reasons for it falling over:

  1. Your compose to printer is not "Acrobat Distiller";
  2. The PPD for Distiller is not present in the folder [PMDIR]RSRC\[LANGUAGE]\PPD4 -see "Check"
  3. You are using graphic formats other than *.PSD, *.TIF or *.EPS;
  4. You have used Insert Object or Paste Special (e.g. WordArt);
  5. You have used Copy and Paste to import a graphic into PM - always use File -> Place;
  6. Your PM file or linked graphics are on a remote drive (i.e. a file server) or removable media (e.g. flash drive).
  7. Your "Acrobat" Style is incorrect or corrupt (delete it - PM will recreate it)
  8. You have used a character in your path/filename which Distiller objects to, for instance a space or comma. In which case use the old DOS 8.3 format - C:\pdfs\myfile.pdf.

If you think an image is crashing the PDF export, just export half the pages and see which half crashes. Keep doing this until you narrow it down to the troublesome page.
